Non-contact Color Technology–“Bridging the Gap”

Michael Butterworth, VeriVide Ltd.

Introduction

Whilst instrumental color assessment, and the electronic communication of the associated
data, has helped deliver significant cycle time and cost efficiencies for the retail sector, its application has been largely limited to items of a solid color nature.
When one considers the increasingly large percentage of retailers’ portfolios that don’t meet this criteria i.e footwear, lingerie, pattern and prints, home furnishings, hard goods, there is clearly a major potential opportunity to be realized by bringing such merchandize into the digital color communication arena.
The presentation will give sight of how non-contact color measurement technology is already being applied to satisfy this requirement, together with advancements in virtual product development and selection techniques.
